Surf's Up at Uranium Beach

You wanna know what happened that day? Oh yeah, I can tell you everything, dude. I arrived at the crack of dawn, waxed up my deck, and paddled out to the line up. The waves were macking and I was ripping through—wait, what? Oh, you want to hear about the mutant zombie attack from outer space? Uh, sure, I guess. One second everything was copasetic, then these gnarly dudes with skin glowing like jellyfish decided to harsh the vibes. So me, this grandma, and a nerd in a lab coat went aggro on them. Found out it was a whole government bag job, so we put together this neutron bomb thingee, dropped it off at their casa, and had a little early Fourth of July celebration. It was totally radical, but you should really hear about this bomb wave I caught this morning…

Surf’s Up at Uranium Beach is a roughly 50-page tabletop roleplaying game paying homage to ridiculous beach horror films. Every player takes on the role of an unlikely ally against the forces of irradiation controlled by the nefarious but beloved Coastguard. The players will battle sentient food, acne-covered aliens, and other B-Movie staples as they attempt to figure out what the heck went wrong and try to put the mutated cat back in the bag. If you enjoy frisbees, surf rock, and very tan mummies, this game is for you!

The system for Surf’s Up is easy to pick up and learn. All rolls are resolved using two or more d12 dice and counting results of 6 and above as Successes. Oh, did we mention the d12’s are referred to as Beachballs? But that’s not all! Learn more about the joys of Riding the Wave and Hanging 12 or the terror of the dreaded Wipeout, special circumstances that can create that chaos we all love in a game. With a quick read and a little practice, anyone can master simple system of Surf’s Up.

There are twelve Beachcomber Roles (think of them like classes, but cooler) to choose from that all have their own special abilities and playstyles. Surf’s Up even makes it easy on you: you don’t even have to choose a name; you can roll one up! Here are the Roles available in this book:

Ever wondered what it would be like to have two heads or spikes like a porcupine? Well, wonder no longer! Surf’s Up includes a system that lets players rapidly mutate as they fight for their right to beach party. They may make for some awkward date situations later, but Mutations can spell the difference between victory and defeat. Plus, who wouldn’t want to shoot lasers from their eyes?!

Each game of Surf’s Up is overseen by a Coastguard, a master of ceremonies and the dork providing weird voices to mad scientists and leggy sharks. The Coastguard has a full section in this book that will outline everything they will need to run a game. There is a step-by-step guide to setting up the game, tips and recommendations, and a host of random roll charts to lighten the load for Coastguards. With player-facing combat and a plethora of Monsters to choose from, Coastguards have never had it easier!
